Who is it for?

I pick up where diets and one-size-fits-all methods leave people feeling like they will never succeed. We don’t treat just the symptoms — we find the root cause and come up with a solution that will work for you.

How does it work?

My guiding principle is to look at you as a whole person — you are not simply the sum of calories ingested and burned.

I have a combination of certifications in functional medicine, coaching, health, exercise, nutrition and hormonal balance through the Institute of Functional Medicine and the CHEK Institute. By combining my various areas of expertise, I map out a holistic health plan that’s personalised just for you.

This includes:

  • Taking physical measurements combined with specialised professional software to measure body fat and corresponding hormonal imbalances
  • Setting measurable targets by addressing key areas such as food sensitivities, allergies, lifestyle issues and sleep quality
  • Looking at key physical and emotional events throughout your life that may have directly or indirectly impacted your health

Your plan can last from 3 months to a year, depending on your needs and goals. I continue taking measurements to monitor progress, and ask you to fill in food logs and track symptoms so that we can adjust and optimize the plan as we go along.

My Story

My personal transformation was a long one, and many times I tripped up, stepped back, and had to start again. This is exactly what inspired me to develop a holistic program to make the journey easier for others.

With 2 children, a sedentary lifestyle and an unhappy marriage, I was facing a multitude of issues, my constant battle with weight being just one of them. I was taking a plethora of medication to address my various allergies and was becoming increasingly aware of severe discomforts such as bad digestion, excessively painful periods, facial acne and recurring sinus infections.

One day, I simply got fed up of it all. This was my turning point.

What did you find unique about my coaching/service?

A simple answer to this question is your thorough knowledge of your subject matter. I had been previously to two nutritionists recommended by doctors here in Belgium. I had one appointment with each and never went back because I felt I knew more about nutrition and my body than they did. Neither could get beyond the fact that I don’t eat like a traditional Belgian, i.e. bread with something on it morning and evening and a hot meal at lunch. The fact that I cook Thai, Italian, Chinese, Indian and American in one week sort of threw them. Plus they viewed nutrition as a sort of stand alone issue and did not wish to address other issues that affect our eating besides hunger.

You, Janice, on the other hand, realise that nutrition is just one part of our overall health. The fact that you approach health in a holistic manner sets you apart. By looking at my life as a whole: stress factors, sleep patterns, travel, age related hormonal changes, exercise and diet, we have been able to address my nutritional needs as a lifestyle change rather than simply what I put into my mouth.
